Sony

Sony is a globally recognized technology pioneer and one of the leading manufacturers of state-of-the-art still cameras, professional film cameras, high-quality lenses, and accessories. Founded in 1946 in Tokyo as Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo by Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita, the company has evolved over decades from a small electronics manufacturer into a global innovation leader. Today, under the brand "Sony Corporation," Sony is synonymous with technical excellence and creative freedom not only in consumer electronics but also in the imaging industry.

In the photography industry, Sony has made history, particularly since the 21st century. With the introduction of the Alpha series, starting with the DSLR line in the 2000s following the acquisition of Konica Minolta's camera division in 2006, Sony laid the foundation for its dominance in the imaging segment. The decisive turning point, however, came with the launch of full-frame mirrorless cameras, starting with the Sony Alpha 7 in 2013. These cameras combined compact design with professional image quality and revolutionized the industry. Sony is therefore considered a co-founder of the mirrorless trend, which has now become established as the standard. The decision to rely on in-house developments such as the BIONZ image processor, high-resolution sensors (e.g., the Exmor RS CMOS sensors), and innovative autofocus systems gave Sony a technological edge that continues to this day.

The portfolio now includes a wide range of products: from the Alpha series for photographers, which offers models like the Alpha 1 or Alpha 7R V with impressive resolution and speed, to CineAlta and FX film cameras for professional video productions. In addition, there are G-Master lenses, which are valued for their exceptional sharpness and bokeh, as well as a wide variety of accessories such as flash units, microphones, and storage media. Sony's focus on integration – for example, through the seamless connection of camera, software, and post-production – makes the company the first choice for professionals and ambitious amateurs alike.
For us at Optik Foto Rutz, Sony stands for innovation and reliability. Continuous development, coupled with a high degree of technological independence, sets Sony apart from the competition. Whether it's the groundbreaking eye-detection autofocus, 8K video recording, or the compact performance of the ZV series for content creators – Sony always stays at the cutting edge and plays a decisive role in shaping the future of photography.
